To the River's End: A Thrilling Western Novel of the American Frontier Customer Reviews
:- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Joyce CH -- An old time Western : Just as satisfying as when I began reading Westerns in 1959. As good as Bennet Foster or Sewell Ford. Western where good men follow a code of decency and women are courageous and tough minded. Maybe a fantasy, but a satisfying one. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 3, 2021 )
- 4.0 out of 5 stars from GWolf -- Good Guys Always Win : If you like western this is a fun quick read. The writing is not in depth philosphically, and the characters are one dimensional, but it is the vein of white hat heroes who meet life head on. I would recommend this book to readers of young age who never got to experience 1960's t v screens where good prevails. A story like this can teach consequences and responsibility. - 5.0 out of 5 stars from larry -- a mountain man story : This is a good book about beaver trappers working a dangerous area in the middle of Indian territory, and also describing the rondevu the trappers attended every summer to sell their pelts and let off steam. - 1.0 out of 5 stars from Kindle Customer -- It's a good read : This was one of best books Johnstone has ever written. I enjoyed every page. Could barely put the book down. There was away something going on thru out the whole story. I would recommend this book to everyone. ( Reviewed in the United States on November 7, 2021 )
- 4.0 out of 5 stars from Kindle Customer -- Fun : Fun read of Like and Jug as partners in Blackfoot country trapping beaver and outsmarting the indians. Trapping beaver was brutal work in the wild country. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2021 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Irva Robidoux -- Another Great Book! : I liked the fact it was based on the Fur Company's back in that era, and the main character was a true trapper and mountain man. And the romance and action made the book hard to put down! ( Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2021 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Glendon -- Heart thumping : A great adventure of the early west . Great characters and a terrific story. Can't wait for the next one ! ( Reviewed in the United States on October 23, 2021 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Kindle Customer -- Novel worth Johnstone legend : This I hope is the start of a new series. It holds the ideas of the mountain man and the struggles of that era. The way the story teller sets to pace holds your interest to the end. I intend to read this again. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 5, 2021 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from lizzie -- Great story : O have to say l have read many many of wills books love the Preacher books and this is a great book would love a follow up story with these 3 ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 17, 2021 )
- 4.0 out of 5 stars from steve -- Enjoyed the book. : I enjoyed the book...good story. However, alot of "native people"(Blackfoot) were killed by the main character . It was always on the pretext of self defense. The "Blackfoot" were portrayed as the bad guys even though the white frontiermen were trespassing on native land and depleting the native wildlife without compensation. During this period ,the white men were the conquerors who responded harshly to native resistance and not much has changed. Still found the book interesting on the history and lifestyle of trappers ,the fur trade and the relationship with the natives on the frontier. ( Reviewed in Canada on October 21, 2021 )
